We are independent.
A partnership of 3, we started Opus 15 years ago with our investment backed further by friends in the local business community.
Opus is a one off – we are just here in Cornwall Street, not anywhere else! Our Independence is important to us.
We are nature-led.
Our menus are shaped by what the British seasons produce, with our kitchen buying each day from our family of farmers and fishermen around the British Isles. Our skilled team lets the flavours of the produce shine through the menu.
Our suppliers care deeply about welfare and their impact on the environment – and you can taste the difference. Committed to ethical farming and sustainable fishing, we buy only free range meat, LEAF accredited fruit and vegetables, and daily catches from the harbours of the south coast and Scottish waters. Our support of the fishing and farming industry is part of our DNA.
We are family.
Our family of staff make us supremely proud. This is not an easy industry to dedicate your life to, but our team is made up of hard working young people dedicated to delivering quality and delighting in learning new skills and supporting each other along the way.
We organise staff trips to visit farms, tasting sessions and wine courses, ensuring staff knowledge is enhanced. Many of our team are being supported to gain degrees at college.
We are proud sponsors.
A vibrant urban scene is vital to our business and we help make our city irresistible to the people who live and visit here, through supporting the arts, education, and charities dear to our hearts. We are patrons and sponsors of:
Sifa Fireside
Sifa Fireside is a charity that provides support for homeless, vulnerable adults in Birmingham. Ben, our chef director, provides food and cooks for around 150 Sifa clients once a month; with the wonderful help of local businesses, we hosted a dinner that raised £37,000 that has paid for new facilities and a new oven at their drop in centre in Digbeth.
